Now here is a band that is currently blowing my mind and my circuitboards : BAstidas from Los Angeles.

Just when I’ve given up on Chicano rock from being nothing but incorporating little Mexican guitars into their sound a band like this comes along totally breaking the barriers of what Chicanos are creating RIGHT NOW. Of course Chican@s rocking out is nothing new but I’ve felt so much that many had abandoned this visceral type of sound or haven fallen into the ‘pyschobilly’ scene never to be seen again (without creepers).This won’t be on Mun2 or on MTV.

Another band blowing my mind is Animal’s on Coke because of one song; I have no videos but listen to their song “Diary of a Dad” on their MySpace page [eww that was gross to write, oh well.]

right now i really love girl in a coma… they’re from san antonio and have a sound of their own… might not be too punk, but they have substance. last album was inspired by their grandfather’s tejano band.

Hmmm…. I gave Girl In A Coma a listen and I was sadly underwhelmed. Nothing new or interesting. And their crazy merchandising is rather nauseating.
